“We were told it wasn't possible”

(01) What we hear

A top flat with no access. A courtyard you can't get a pallet truck into. A roof that won't take the weight. A conservation officer with a view.

Sometimes it genuinely isn't possible. Usually it means nobody wanted to solve it.

(02) What solving it has meant

So far, solving it has meant taking a window out and building a load-bearing timber platform to carry a heat pump across a roof that couldn't hold it. Winning planning on applications that had been abandoned. And, where permission couldn't be obtained at all, installing indoors instead — the first install of its kind we know of in mainland Scotland.
