What it costs
What it costs
(01) Straight answer
I can't tell you what your heat pump will cost, and anybody who can hasn't looked at your house.
What I can tell you is what the number is made of, what pushes it up, what brings it down, and exactly what we charge to find out.
(02) The only fixed price
The Home Heat Plan — [£X]
Room-by-room heat loss, a fabric and moisture survey, cylinder and pipework feasibility, the funding available to you, and a sequenced plan: what to do, in what order, and what to leave alone. Yours to keep, whoever you use afterwards. [Credited against installation if you go ahead with us.]
That's the only fixed price on this website, and it's deliberate. Everything after it depends on what we find.
(03) What a quote is made of
The heat pump
Bigger if your house loses more heat. Insulation first means a smaller, cheaper machine.
Emitters
Only the ones the calculation says need changing.
Pipework
We work out what your existing pipe can carry rather than replacing all of it. On a lot of houses that's several thousand pounds of upgrade that turns out to be unnecessary.
Plant room and cylinder
Access, and whether we're keeping your storage or gutting it.
Fabric
Grant funded, where you qualify.
The plant room nobody photographs.
(04) We're not the cheapest
We'd rather show you the difference than argue about the total.
The electrical protection
Every heat pump's manufacturer instructions specify the protective device it needs. Fitting something cheaper that's perfectly safe but isn't what's specified can invalidate the warranty on the machine — so the system is protected and you aren't. Doing it properly costs a few hundred pounds more, and it's the difference between a manufacturer's warranty that works and one that doesn't when you need it.
The pipe
Copper and multilayer composite, lead-free, carrying a ten-year guarantee that covers the full cost of replacement — not just the fitting that failed, but the work of reaching it and putting the room back. A guarantee that replaces a £4 fitting and leaves you with the floor isn't really a guarantee.
The plant room
We take longer over the part nobody photographs. Pipework laid out so it can be read at a glance, valves where a person can reach them, the cylinder placed so you keep your storage. It's usually an extra day — the day that decides whether the system is maintainable in fifteen years.
(05) What we won't do to bring a price down
Oversize the machine because it's quicker than calculating. Replace every radiator because it's easier than working out which ones need it. Rip out a working wardrobe because moving around it takes thought.
